This is course is part 2 of a 4-part complimentary course valued at $80 sponsored by IPC.

Working with Senior Clients – Advance Care and Planning – This course is designed to provide registrants and representatives with important knowledge about working with aging clients. It educates learners about selecting a suitable delegate to manage personal and financial affairs when the client is either temporarily or permanently unable to make their own decisions.

At the end of the course the Advisor would be able to:

  • Recognize the legal and regulatory implications and restrictions associated with Powers of Attorney and Delegated Authority when a third party is acting on behalf of a client in the client/advisor relationship.
  • Define the types and characteristics of the different types of Powers of Attorney and how they apply to various aspects of the senior client/advisor relationship
  • Evaluate the validity and scope of a Power of Attorney by understanding the limitations and jurisdiction and how these factors impact the advisor/ client relationship
  • Demonstrate the ability to apply best practices to address typical issues and challenges presented in a senior client/advisor relationship in a compliant manner
